Broad-Angle Multichannel Metagrating Diffusers

We present a semianalytical scheme for the design of broad-angle multichannel metagratings (MG), sparse periodic arrangements loaded conducting strips (meta-atoms), embedded in multilayer printed circuit board configuration. By judicious choice periodicity and angles incidence, scattering off such MG can be described via multi-port network, where input output ports correspond to different illumination reflection directions associated with same set propagating Floquet-Bloch modes. Since each these possible scenarios modelled analytically, constraints conveniently applied on modal coefficients (scattering matrix entries) yield diffusive response, which, when resolved, produce required geometry. show that by demanding symmetric configuration, number independent S parameters dramatically reduced, enabling satisfaction multiple using single MG. Without any full-wave optimization, this procedure results fabrication-ready layout MG, retroreflection suppression from numerous incidence simultaneously. This concept, verified experimentally five-channel prototype, offers an innovative solution both monostatic bistatic radar cross section reduction, avoiding implementation challenges dense metasurfaces used purpose.
